Many employers sponsor corporate matching gift programs and will match any charitable contributions that their employees or spouses make.
Matching gift programs can double or possibly triple your donation. Please obtain your company’s matching gift form and return it with your contribution.
Each year, Rensselaer receives nearly $1 million in additional support from donors who take advantage of corporate gift match. Corporate gift match is considered when determining your annual gift club status. To determine if your company participates in corporate match, contact your company's personnel or human resource office.

Your gift may provide you with federal and state income tax benefits.
If you itemize deductions on your federal income tax return, you may be able to deduct your contribution to Rensselaer from your adjusted gross income. In addition, gifts of appreciated property avoid long term capital gains tax. Check with your tax advisor for deduction and capital gains tax requirements and limitations for your situation.

If you are itemizing deductions, you may deduct contributions to Rensselaer (and also other qualifying charities) using Schedule A to form 1040. These reductions reduce your taxable income and thereby reduce your tax liability by the amount of your donation multiplied by your marginal tax rate.
