Glen R. Loppnow, University of Alberta and Cabezon Games, will be speaking on "The Future of Chemistry Education: Should We Be Teaching Answers or Questions?"
Prof. Marlene Belfort, born in Cape Town to German-Jewish refugees, studied biochemistry and microbiology at the University of Cape Town, earned her PhD at UC Irvine, and completed postdoctoral work in Jerusalem and at Northwestern. A member of the U.S. National Academy of Sciences and an award-winning scientist, she is now a Distinguished Professor at the University at Albany, SUNY, known for research on introns and inteins and for advocating for women in science.
